THE NORTHERN CIRCUIT STAKES. Last year racing on the Northern circuit began at Detroit and the Detroit meeting was followed in order by the meetings at Fort Erie, Montreal and Windsor. This year a different order will be followed, Montreal being given the honor of leading off. Racing will begin at the Canadian metropolis Thursday, June 8, and terminate Saturday, June 24. Montreal is a big city and it is more than probable that it will become an important and prosperous racing point. Extensive improvements have been projected for Bel Air track which will be completed by the time the meeting begins and will no doubt serve to, add largely to aid in rendering racing popular and fashionable with the Montrealers. The Windsor Hotel Stakes for three-year-olds, value SI .500, will be the chief attraction of tho first day. The other stakes to be disposed of during the progress of the meeting will be the Brewers Stakes for 3-year-olds and upward, ,000; the Montreal Hunt Club Stakes for 3-year-olds and upward, ,000; the Place-Vigor Hotel Stakes for 2-year-old fillies, ,000, and the Forest and Stream Stakes for 2-year-olds. The Fort Erie meeting comes second on the circuit. The meeting at that point opens Wednesday, June 28, and closes Wednesday, July 19. The Canadian Derby, one and a half miles, for 3-year-olds, of the value of ,500, will bo decided on the opening day. It will be the star event of the circuit. Last year it was won by the good filly, Miss Gussie. In fact, the race then exhibited the peculiarity of being contested by fillies alone, something not likely to occur again. The Canadian Sportsman Handicap, for 3-year-olds and upward; Cascade Stakes.f or 3-year-olds and upward ; Queens-town Stakes, for 2-year-old tillies; Welland Stakes, for 2-year-olds, and Niagara Stakes, for 2- year-old colts and geldings, are the other stakes of the meeting, and each is of the guaranteed value of ,000. From Fort Erie the followers of the Circuit will travel to Windsor where the racing will commence Saturday, July 22 and continue to and including August 12. The Merchants Stakes for 3- jear-old fillies, Martimas States for 3-year- olds and upward and the Essex Stakes for 2-year-olds will constitute the big events of the meeting; each being ,000 guaranteed. The meeting at Highland Park, Detroit, will end the series. The meeting at that important point is set to begin Monday, August 14, and will come to a close Saturday, August 26. The Detroit track is a fast one and as the meeting there will be held when the racers are at their best it will be sure to be marked by some speedy performances. The Michigan Stakes, for 3-year-olds, ,000, Highland Park Stakes, for 3-year-olds and upward, SI, 000 and the Banner Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings will be the main features of the meeting. The conditions and distances of tho stakes to be decided at the different meetings will be found in the advertising columns of Daily Racing Form. Entries to all close March 1 with W. O. Parmer, secretary, Detroit, Mich. They are commended to the consideration and patronage of the horsemen of the country.
