NOTES OF THE TURHY W. J. Taylor, a prominent attorney of Victoria, B. C, now in London, England, on business, owns seven Morello colts and fillies. The fact was lost sight of that Mr. Taylor had his mares on the Reis place in Contra Costa county the last year of Morellos life. Besides these youngsters by the dead turf monarch there are twelve baby racers by Little Mid, son of Midlothian. Several of the Taylor mares are Australian bred. It is rumored in New York that the starting at Washington and Morris Park will be done by Mars Cassidy, and that Matt Byrnes will hold the flag at Saratoga. It is reported that Sanford and Son of Amsterdam, N. Y., have engaged W. Hayward, Jr., who recently left the Sensation Stable, to train for them. The St. Saviour Carissima colt in Tom Healys eastern string, which died recently, was one of the highest tried yearlings in the country, May Kennedy, the dam of OConnell and six other winners, is heavy with foal to Wagner. It will be her first foal in four years. Semper Ego is to jump this year. He eeems to take to fencing naturally though he is hardly built on the popular plan. j j Jockeys J. Hill and T.
