The following dates have been set for the two- year-old stakes of the California Jockey Club : Saturday, March 4, ,000, the Racing Stakes, 1-2 mile; Monday, March 20, ,00, the Flying Stakes fillies, 1-2 mile; Thursday, March 23, ,250, the Watorhoust Stakes, four and a half furlongs ; Thursday, March 30, ,250,the General Arthur Cigar Stakes, four and a half furlongs; Thursday, April 20, ?2,O0Q, the Gebhard Stakes, Futurity Course ; Monday, April 24, ,00, the Candelaria Handicap, 5-8 mils. At Forsythe, Ind., June 6, 1896, Redskin, with only fifty-eight pounds up, stepped off a mile and a sixteenth in 1:45, thereby wiping out the previous best record at the distance, 1 :45t, made by Yo Tambien at Washington Park. Yesterday Topmast ran in Redskins time over the fast Oakland track. As he carried just fifty pounds more than Redskin did, it must be conceded that all the honors of the record belong to Topmast. T. H. Ryan will sell off all the horses he has racing here, including Dunois, Dont Skip Me, Wing and Montallade. The sale will take place at the close of Oaklands next spell of racing. Ryan has twenty-five two and three-year-olds on a ranch at Wilmington, 111., and he considers he will have his hands full with them. San Francisco Examiner.
