THE CAHN STABLE. Abe Cahn, the St. Louis turfman, has a nice stable of horses in training at the Memphis racetrack. Buckvidere, Linda, Verify, Sir Gatian, Darington and May dOr are the most prominent of the older horses in the Cahn stable. Sir Gatian, Darington and May dOr are throe-year-olds. Sir Gatian, a chestnut colt, by Y ctory Hegiaz, is supposed to be the best three-year-old in the stable. As a two-year-old Sir Gatian ran several highly creditable races, but he was a sulkor and could never be relied on. If he ever gets ovor those sulking spells, Sir Gatian will make a mighty useful racing tool. Mr. Cahn won the Tennessee Derby two years ago with;Buckvidere, whose victory over Typhoon II. and Algol was a big surprise to the turf world. Sir Gatian may give the talent another dose of the unexpected by winning the Derby for Mr. Cahn this season. Darington is a big chestnut colt, by Victory Folicite. He was a growthy colt last spring, and his owner did not train him. He ought to make a handy horse this season. May dOr, a chestnut filly, by Ormonde dOr Alice May, is Mr. Cahns candidate for the jTennesseo Oaks. May dOr is a racy looking filly, having grown considerably since lastJfall.iiShewasnt raced much as a two-year-old. A list of the two-year-olds in Abe Cahns stable will be found below: El Derim, b. c, by Sir Dixon Lady Faro. Southern Girl, br. f, by Free Knight Sarah Davis. Bit of Fashion, ch. f, by Forester Welcome. Boncesvalles, b. g, by Blazes Alice. J. C. Cahns stable includes Crocket, Belle Ward, Sorrow, Fausturo and Chancery. Crocket won the Kentucky Oaks last season. Belle Ward is a magnificent looking four-year-old bay filly, by Luke Blackburn MaudiWard, the dam of Hugh Penny. Belle Ward was an exceedingly useful selling plater at; the Fair Grounds last season. She has wintered well, being a much larger and more impressive looking filly than her stable companion, Crocket, who is the same age. Hugh Pennylimproved with age and his sister gives every indication of doing the same. A list of J. C. Cahns two-year-olds will be found below : Silver Fizz, ch. f, by Silver Fox Toniqne. Bay gelding, by Fauslus Nina W. Bay colt, by Top Gallant El Myra. Chestnut colt, by Glenelg Eastlako. Charles Van Studdiford, the young St. Louis turfman, has a string of promising two-year-olds in training at the Fair Grounds. A list of them is as follows : Mosswitt, b. c, by Woodmoss Buby Prewitt. Sidbow, b. c, by Siddartha Miss Dowling. Woodlecia, br. or blk.f, by Woodmoss-Helicia. Becompense, b. f, by Siddartha Lady Nell. Coral, b. f, by Bossington Helena. Woodtrice, ch. c, by Woodmoss Uantatrice. John Mengle is training Mr. Studdifords stable, and he thinks pretty well of his two-year-old division. All of Mr. Studdifords youngsters wore bred by Dr. A. W. McAlester of Columbia, Mo. Belle of Memphis, Basquil, Johnny McHale and other well-known performers first saw the light of day at Dr. Mc-Alesters farm. St. Loais Republic.
