NOTES OF THE TURF. Paddy Tomlinson, who is training Freak for the Tennessee Oaks, thinks ho has the best three-year-old filly in the west. Freak is a chestnut filly, by St. Blaise Forever, the dam of Forget. She was bred by and still belongs to E. S. Gardner. Freak was shipped to Tomlinson at Memphis about two weeks ago and Paddy has been sending her along. In a letter to Colonel William L. Cassidy, Tomlinson says that Freak is by far the best three-year-old filly at Montgomery Park. Barring accidents, Paddy thinks she has the Tennessee Oaks at her mercy. The "show" odds on McAllister in the fifth race at Now Orleans Thursday was 1 to 2 and not 3 to 2 as printed in Daily Bacing Fobji. Jockey Butter has left San Francisco for Memphis. It is reported that he is under en-gagement to ride for T. H. Byan this year. Briar Sweet will not ba taken east much be fore June 1, and will then go direct to Sheepshead Bay. Breeder and Sportsman.
