NOTES OP THE TURF, Yesterdays St. Louis Republic eaya: "Barney Schreiber will leave for Saratoga to-night. The best of his horses were shipped to tbe Springs several weeks ago. Dick Wi Hams, who has just arrived there, reports the stable in tip-top shape. 11 138 Marion, Jinks, Schiller, Jerry Hunt and B randh? e are the best known bones in the string. Mies Marion and Jinks are thought to be two of the fastest three-yar-old fillies in tl e ccuntry. Schiller is said to ba back to his best form, and he ought to give a good acci unt of himself at Saratoga. Martin Hnbbell will handle the tecond division of the Schreiber stable at tbe Fair Grounds. He has Elbe, Heine, Fine Shot and several other youngsters in charge. This U the first time Schreiber has ever tackled the eastern game." E. Herlan, Chicago. The race in which Brigade was a factor having been declared "no race" apparently makes that race as if it had never existed. A decision of "no race" is not provided for by any racing rule or precedent and must be considered a feature peculiar to racing over the track where the decision was rendered. Its seeming effect being to render what bad been meant to be one of the regular races of a days program null and void, it appears that it would be equity to hold that the combination was made on tho other two races only.
