She went to the front in the firt few p strides and was never in tronble. Hansford ran a good even rac. Mathews saw he had no a chance of winning in the stretch and did not punish the colt Contesaa finished with a tre- a mendousrush. This is the best race this filly ever ran. She is a full sister to Lib-rtinn. Myrtle L Gebaur was banddly ridden and also had bad racing luck. Donna Aita end Jeff Doth finished Vj resolutely. The latter ia a bad luck youngster. A Winner acted very green. He is a fine looker g and will et out of the maiden class soon. Lun Ferguson was sharply shut off at the start and 1, never had a chance after that. h in Soratched 14039 All -Imdes. 117; 13979 Russell R., 96. Heroics as most saved at the post and had fairly good racing lack. This is what won for him. The galding ran a good race his last time out and, considering this, his price was out of line. Samivel ran a fair race and finished gamely under punishment. Salurds could do nothing with Synit in the stretch and Bho swerved badly. A more competentjrider would 1 nave won on ter. Little Singer, from a bad beginning, ran a bitter race than the winner. Lew Hopper got a running start and was not interfered with in the least but was badly outrun down the back8tretch When the field straightened awaj for home though Hopper came very fast. Bright Night had no chance from where he got away. Astor had no excuso3. He is simply of no present account. , Correc ed weights Heroics, 100 H-roice, place. 6 to 1 ; show, 3 to 1. Won hand ridden; the others were driving hard. It was a falsely run rp.ee. because of the bad tend-off. Garland Barr stayed close to the rail all the way and came through with a well t.med ruBh at the end. The speed Tony Licalzt showed in this race was a great improvement over his last performance He bolted on this occasion. Ballista ran a cracking good race. With an even break he would have been bird to beat. Al Lone seemed to b3 running well in band on the stretch turn when she boled. This, perhaps, cost her the race, or at least it kept her out of the first three. Violet Parsons did well. Mark her, especially if the track gets muddy. After the barrier went up, the chances of Tillio W. were mined. So wore those of Yonng Dixon. Scratched 13981 Qry J hn, 107; 14021Pat Cleburne, 100. Overweigits Ballista, li pounds. Winner B c, by Ben Strome Prudence. Off at the first break to a perfect start. Won in a mild drive; second, third and fourth driving to the limit. Benneville was the best at the weights and lucky. He is in rare form. Dean was very fortunate in getting through at the head of the fctretch. Had Vitatoe, who rode 1 Montgomery, skinned the rails on the stretch turn Benneville would have baen compelled to no around. So it was evident that Dean won the race by taking a chance. Montgomery, with a lot ! the best of the weight, ran a good race. He huog on gamely when the pinch came. Our Gertie 1 had no excuses. She was carried out a trifle by Montgomery all the way but this intbrferenca 1 cut no figure with the result. Periwigs race was a cracking good one for him. He came with a winning rcsh at the end. Canova did not show his usual amount of speed. Miss Rowona did, but she couid not carry it far. For the first eighth cf a mile the field was eo closely bunchod ! that it was almost impossible to tell which was in front. Benneville, place, evens; show, 2 to 5. Post 25 minutes. Start good for all but Dutch Comedian. Won driving and out to the last ounce. There was share action behind the winner Lord Zeni, under a good ride, birely lasted long enough to win. Everett took the shortest routo and made every.post a winning one. Tap-pan finished very strong. He runs conss.ently. Murat ran a good race, considering the route was a mile. Goose Liver, outrun the first part of it, finished strongly. Roger B. showed speed, but quit early. Dutch Comedian was the cause of the delay and was left at the poet justly, by ordor of the presiding judge. He tapped the bell giving the signal for the starter to send he field away without him. He seemed very lame in his preliminary and was taken before the judges to be exensid. They, however, did not think the ailmont serious and refused to lot him out. Rumor that the colt waB lame spread like wildfire and hal a noticoable effect on the betting. Tne colt was not himself but being the best class horte of the field he won anyhow. After the race he ehowed signs of lameness. Jolly Roger ran better than he did when last out. Beauchamp lost a lot of ground by turning wide into the stretch. He also lot the horse swerve badly below the eighth post. The Lady in Bine showed a lot of speed and hung on longer than nsual. Tulane, well backed, . ran a bad race. He quit badly the last eighth.
