ANOTHER RULtD OFK. The judges at Hawthorne have announced the following decision in the case of steeplechase jockey Royce: September 1, in the steeplechase race of that day, j ckey F. Royce had the mount on the horse Chenier. In the. race, with hi3 horse fighting to go on, he alternated batweeD second and third positions. Just before reaching the sixth jump, be deliberately pulled his horse over and persisted in trying to crowd the horse Gypceiver outside of the flag and interfered with him in every possible way. Just before reaching the seventh jump he pulled his horse out of the race, continued on and with the horses head pulled up so hard he could not see, struck and fall going over the last jump. Chenier is a grand jumper and has won nil of hid races by going right to the front. Every action of Royce indicted his purpose was to lose the race and incidentally take c ire of Gypcaiver. Chenier was a natural first choice and Gypceiver a contender. Jockey F. Royce is ruled off the turf, and should we ba able later to connect others; with his riding, this ruling is to apply to them as the case may appear respectively. James H. Reks T j,e Jndees.
