NOTES OF THE TURF. Alex. Covington who went to England last spring, is ssid to have nearly killed bimelf in an effort to reduce down to riding weight. Covington took Charina, Candelaria and Wax Toy, formerly Cavalry, to England and haB won many races with the trio on the English tracks. Charina ia the mare he claimed away from Brewer Schorr last soar, while Candelaria is the horse he claimed from Burns and Waterbouse. Cavalry is the horse that Covington pulled off several successful coups with in this country last yaar.
