GOSSIP O THE TDBF. Indian Fairys success in the rich Matron Stakes at Morris Paik yesterday led to much congratulation among the friends and followers of the leading Chicago stables, although it was a surprise. Popular expectation was that Wmdmere would ba the instrument of success if the stable was to win. Indian Foiry is a chestnut filly by the dead sire Iroquois Fairy, aud Fairy wa3 one of tho fleetest maroi that evor ran in this country. Up to her signal triumph yesterday there was nothing to indicate that Indian Fairy was equal to winning in such company, her only previous success having baoa tho capture of a purse race for maiden fillies at Gravesend, September 25. Before that she had started in four races without success, running second once, third once and twice unplaced. The two placed horses in the Futurity that ran in tho Matron, Brigadier and Windmere, by running unplaced in tho latter, cast discredit on the form of the richest of all our events for two-year-olds.
