CALIFORNIA TURF GOSblP. The Western Turf Association has given away .5C0orcver in purees every day, and the im" pression prevailed that it would quit loser on the first meeting, aB it has had to contend with bad weather. Secretary Green reports that tbe attendance increased to such an extent that the association will make a little money on their first fortnight of racing, which iB a matter of congratulation to all turfmen who appreciate entomrito and liberality. The California Jockey Club is out with a 00 handicap at one mile and an eighth for Thanksgiving day. There will also be a two and a quarter mile selling race on the same day. A special race is also on the tapis at five furlongs between the swift two-year:olds Yellow Tail and Southern Girl. The race will be run over a fast track. The Burlingame Stock Farm is to have a new sire. Dan Dennisou, acting for Marcns Daly, has sold to Prince Poniatowski Sam Lucas, the stallion by Prince Charley, and the fillies Ella Boland and Mortgage. The latter two will be raced. Barney Schreiber has secured first call on the services of jockey Bullman for thi3 winter. He will pay him 00 a month and winning mounts. In addition to Bullman, Barney Schreibar has secured the promising little feather-weight Phelan to ride this winter. Prince Poniatowski will enter sixteen brood mares in the California Futurity. Among his nominations will be Tiger Lily, Callatine, Sunlit, Lillian RusEell and Lncretia Borgia. Little J. Walsh rode six winners out of ten mounts at Tanforau Park. This is a wonderful record for a boy of such limitod experience. It is on the tapis that Herman Brandt will train tbe Schreiber Stable instead of WilliamB, who was recently suspended. P. Ryan has his stable in rare form. He haB already won nine races at Tanforan Park with three horses. Edward Corrigan has purchased from Dan Dennieon the colt Afghan, by Inverness-Affinity. Gnalala will not be raced again. Bhe has been bred to Tammany.
