THE TENNESSEE OAKS. The first important stake of next year for three-year-old fillies will be the Tenneseee Oaks, to be decided at the Memphis Spring meeting. It bad originelly 49 entries, of which five were declared oat May 1, 1S99, and farther declarations are due January 1 next. Elizabeth Klein, Lady Elite. Scarlet Lily, Brooch, Mollie Newman, Banita Brash, Belle of Orleans, Jen and Brownie Anderson seem to be the pick cf those left in, as it is altogether improbable that the Burns and Water-house pair, Southern Girl and Bit of Fashion, will be sent eoBt eo early in tho year. Bat filly form before midsummer is notoriously unreliable and in no race is the unsuspected outsider co liablo to creep to the front as in a stake lite the Tennessee Oaks.
