It should bs noted that in the case of the Thornton Stakes supplementary entries will be received fifteen days bjfore the date sat for its running, so that its present entry list will no doubt be swelled by horses that have been well tried out before entering them for the long and trying journey over its four mile route. The Burns Handicap ia at present the atar racing event of the Pacific coast and ia of equal value with the two great handicaps of the east, the Brooklyn and the Suburban.
