NOTES OF THE TURF. Manager Frank Fowler, of the Queen City Jockey Club, will leave for New Orleans in a few days. Mr. Fowler will have a book on at the Crescent City meeting in time to catch the holiday play. He has not yet announced his plans for next season, further than to say that Newport will have a meeting next May. It is evident, however, that the management of the track intends to make numerous improvements at the Campball County conrse, and everything will be completed in time for the early spring opening. Ciucinnati:Enquirer, Jockey Elmer James, who waB suspended at the New Orleans track early .laBt spring by acting steward C. McDowell if or a ride on Elmer S., which did not seam ;to be what it should be.has been reinstated.and is now eligible to take mounts. The reinstatement was in the naturo of a Christmas present to James, who has been in harddines ever since his suspension. The present meeting at Tanforan Park will cover three weeks. The California Jockey Club will then conduct raciDg for a eimiler period. The departure from the usual system of two weeks about was made by agreement so that each of the two clubs could have a fair proportion of the holiday season.
