Went to post at 2:15. At post 8 minutes. Start good. Won hard ridden ; the next three were ] driving. May Beach had all her old-time speed and ran one of her best races. She acted badly, seemed sore at the post, and during the delay was much used. This told on her to a certain extent, and after showing dazzling speed she tired badly and bore out in the stretch. OConnell ran . a fine race. He is a fine old campaigner and always deserving of attention in any company, j 8 Flick hugged the rail with him, and at one time below the sixteenth post the old horse looked 4 dangerous. Tab Chisel for early action among his own kind. He wa6 nicely ridden in this race. Walkenshaw made up some ground in the final quarter. Pauline J. tired badly. Moroni made a fair showing from a bad beginning. , Scratched— 9182Mr. Clay, 109; 17750 Rival Dare, 107; 17173 Kirk, 112; 161922Refugee, 112. May Beach, place, out. OConnell, place, evens: show. o»t. Winner— Br. c, by Esher— Silk Gown. i Went to post at 2:50. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won easily at the end. The n«xt two I were driving to the limit. Garry Hermann is a colt of good class and won handsomely. Knight i let him loaf in behind the pacemakers to the head of the stretch and in th« final furlong Her- i maim galloped over the leaders as though they were tied. Sig Levy ran short. He is a grand looker, has a fine turn of speed and will improve from this race. Caywood went away from the post whipping Sad Sam and kept at him all the way. Ross and Caywood both lost much ground y making a wide stretch turn, incidentally making plenty of ground for Garry Hermann to get rough. Watch Nancy B. She is a nice looking filly and showed an early flash of speed. Pontiff uroke in front of his field but propped and came very near spoiling a good start. Scratched— 17768-! Winner— B. c, by Order— Happy Sally II. Went to the post at 3 :20. At post 3 minutes. Start poor. Won handily. All the others were driving hard. From a spectacular standpoint the race was a beauty. At one time on the far turn a blanket would have covered the entire field. Jolly Roger looked, acted and was good. He was under pressure for an instant at the head of the stretch but from the furlong post had everything his own way. Topmast was interfered with more or less all the way. This considered, he ran as good a race as the winner, finishing very strong under punishment. Pot«nte may have been hardly fit. He showed a lot of speed but hung a trifle at the end. Strangest ran a good race, having more early speed than he usually does. Boney Boy was used up by pacemaking and in the final quarter quit badly. Nobleman was handicapped by a bad ride. Winner— B. f, by Kingston— Seville. Went to post at 3 :55. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won cleverly at the end after an early drive. There was a lot of action behind the winner. The Lady is truly a high-class filly. After going to the front on the far turn she faltered in the stretch and for an instant seemed beaten. When Martin struck her with the whip, however, she shot to the front like a flash and at the end was going away from her field. Molo is at his best and ran his best race. Andes looked all over a winner at the head of the stretch but in the last eighth tired badly and was wabbling all over the track at the finish. Orimar showed plenty of speed and passing the half mile ground was galloping under a stout pull, but when Flint set him down the horse had nothing left to finish with. Knightbanneret was off badly and had a rough journey. This race can hardly be counted for him. Myth is improving. Malay will do better on a muddy track. The Lady, place, 3 to 5 ; show, out. Winner— Br. m, by Midlothian— Electric Light. Went to post at 4 :30. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won hand ridden only, but out to the last ounce ; the next five were driving to the limit. Midlight and Miss Ross had the race between them all the way. Midlight won simply because she was the gamer of the two. She got very tired about the eighth post and it was all Knight could do to keep her from bearing in and interfering with Miss Ross. The latter had no excuses. Newcom got her away flying and took the shortest route. Barney F. ran a fair race, but swerved badly in the stretch. Diggs made up a lot of ground in the final quarter. Jim Gore II. was all in a tangle at the start and could never get straightened out. Murat collided with and almost threw Brulare at the start. This considered, the latter ran as good a race as the winner. The winner was run up 00 over her entered price by H. T. Griffin, but was retained. Scratched — 177693Microscope, 94. Winner — B. h, by Prince Royal— Penelope. Went to post at 5:05. Off at the first break to a good start. Won in a mild drive; second and third were doing their best. Dr. Walmsley was well handled and lucky. Narvaez stole a long lead on the other boys on the stretch and this helped him a lot to win. Those in the front rank swung wide into the stretch, leaving plenty of room for Maggie Davis to come through on the inside. This accounts for her being second. St. Cuthbert ran a good race. Miss Shanley is fast but probably faint hearted. Braw Lad appeared to have the best chance on the far turn but in the stretch he tired badly. Free Hand showed no speed and ran a bad race. Peace will not do at all at present. She showed a flash of speed early but could not carry it far. Overweights— Miss Shanley, 2 pounds. Dr. Walmsley, place, 4 to 5 ; show, 2 to 5. He received a good ride and after a little shaking up at the head of the stretch easily drew away from his field. He is a useful selling later. Woodtrice ran a good, honest race. Ben Chance was pocketed all through the stretch, g ut for this he would have been second. Chancery ran a good race. So did Frangible as far as he went.
