, ST. LOUIS TURF GOSSIP. Concerning recent occurrences at the Fair Grounds track yesterday6 St. Louis Republic : says : "Andy J. Powell, the jockey who rode Dollie Wiethoff in the last race on June 7, has been ruled off the turf for the ride lie put up on that occasion. After due deliberation and investigation by Judges Murphy and Price, they decided that they had gathered sufficient evidence. They entirely exonerated Mr. T. F. Buckley, the owner of Dollie Wiethoff, as he produced evidence of having bet 00 on the filly on that occasion. Mr. Buckley became suspicious of Powell because he had him engaged to ride Judge Wardell at a more recent date and refused to let him ride, putting Jesse Mathews up instead. "The judges decided that jockey Vititoes work has not been what it should have been during the past couple of weeks. They decided to put him on the ground for awhile, to let him study up on how to win on good horses. They do not question the boys integrity, but believe him careless or afraid to take a chance at times. "Willie Harris, the former assistant to Starter Bruen, has been reinstated. Shortly after the meeting opened it was discovered that i he had been ruled off a number of years ago. He was ordered away from the Fair Grounds, but a telegram was received from Judge Morrow yesterday, reinstating him. The Chicago Racing Association as yet refuses to recognize , the reinstatement, owing to the absence of Mr. Corrigan. Corrigan has been cabled about the Harris case." CONTINUED ON SECOND PAGE. ST. LOUIS TURF GOSSIP. Continued from First Page. "Thomas McKinney was also ruled off the turf yesterday for fighting and drunkenness. The Fair Association officials say that this case can be taken as an example of what they intend doing with all those who disturb the peace within the Fair Grounds inclosure. Last evening the stewards of the race course decided to open the outer gates of the Fair Grounds to the public on Derby day, Saturday next. The pnblic will have the privilege of entering the center field free of charge."
