Winner Br. f, by King Eric— Tara Blackburn. Went, to post at 2:15. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won cleverly; second and third were 1 driving to the limit. Mitten, under light weight and a good ride, ran a really good race. She is a fairly good filly and her price was out of line. Alpaca showed the most speed, but in the final furlong stopped almost to a walk. In fact, she fairly staggered home in front of Donna Rita. The latter is a sulker and consequently is a bad betting proposition. Knight could not get her [ to extend herself until the stretch was reached and then she ran sluggishly. Josephine B. appeared dangerous on the far turn, but weakened at the end. She does not seem to be of much i present account. Kittie G. finished stoutly. Winner— B. f, by Cayuga— Medusa. . Went to post at 2:50. At post 13 minutes. Start good. Won easing up. Mauga got away well in her stride and smothered her field with bpeed. She is a fine filly, with a smart turn of speed, can carry weight and go the route. Fred Hessig got into a jam shortly after the start, and, this considered, made a good showing. For a new beginner St. Bluff ran a smashing good i race, finishing with a tremendous rush. Mark him for early action over a longer route. Money r Muss is not as good as he was early in the spring. Kid Hampton ran a fair race. Peaches was s much used at the post. Overweights— Prowler. 2 pounds. Mauga, place, 4 to 5 ; show, 2 to 5. Fred Hessig, place, 2 to 1 ; show, evens. Winner— Br. c, by Bersan— Fable. Went to post at 3:35. Off at the second break to a good start. Won handily at the end after a hard early drive. Barrack is a good game colt, like6 heavy going and was skilfully ridden. i. Boland loafed along in a good position until the stretch was reached and then made his move. • For an instant Barrack hung but when Boland applied the whip he responded gamely. Lomond d showed plenty of speed and ran hisrace. Barney F. was right there all the way. Lake Mills ran n a fair race but was short. Clara Wooley could not get out of her own way. Thomas Carey was ■ also dull of speed. Scratched-18441Bermuda Prince, 104. , Barrack, place, 3 to 5; show, out. Lomond, place, 8 to 5; show. 4 to 5. Winner — Ch. g, by Candlemas— Flibbertigibbet. Went to post at 4 :05. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily ; the next three were e ridden under keen pressure. Fly By Night is a horse of good class and in this race was ridden with excellent judgment. Ruiz made the start for Dwyer, and although he got away running :1 I he immediately took a good hold of Fly By Nights head and never tried to get to the front until the stretch was reached, thereby avoiding the early pace which was terrific and having plfnty * .. of 6peed in reserve to finish with when the pinch came. Headwater was bumped and jostled a " lot and everything considered ran a good race. Old OConnell looked good and was right there all the way. Dr. Walmsley and Hermoso both weakened in the stretch. Goebel did not show w enough speed for him. Scratched-13261:*W. Overton, 112. Fly By Night, place, 4 to 5 ; show, 2 to 5. Headwater, place, 2 to 1 ; show, evens. OConnell, ] show, 6 to 5. The Cuban Girl was best and lucky. y- She was away fully in her stride, always nad clear sailing and always held the others safe. The e Butcher had a rough journey and it was only Burns vigorous finish that landed him second. J- Kohnwreath ran a good, game race and can be marked for early action. Below the sixteenth " post there was a general closing up and a general changing of positions. Donna Bella was roughly treated on the stretch turn and Kiley had to pull up to keep from falling. Oricius ran a a smashing, good race. Ben Mageu took the shot test route and Beemed to have a winning chance -e at the head of the stretch, but hung in the last furlong.
