I Winner— Br. c, by Loyalist— Eugenie II. _ 1 Went to the post at 2:15. At post 15 minutes. Start good. Won driving aud staggering; sec- • ond, tliird and fourth were doing tiieir best. Lasance showed a phenomenal turn of speed, in i ; fact he raced the others into subjection in the first half, but barely lastc d long enough to stagger home in front. Kiley rode the colt well, using good judgment in not applying the whip and hold- • 1 ing him well together when the pinch came. Prince of Delight had no excuse. He got away r well in his stride, took the shortest route aud finished stoutly under punishment. Hernando is I a good looker and ran a good race, considering he met with some interference on the far turn. Edith . was rielit there all the way and is in winning form. Al Brown broke flying, showed speed for about three furlongs aud then stopped. The Butcher got away in a tangle and never got straightened out. Off at the second break to a good start. Won easily : second whipped out. The next six were driving to the limit. Princess Thyra broke ruuning and smothered her field for speed. Rose made every post a winning one. Minyon showed her usual amount of speed and ran right to the mark. She likes a hard paste board track. Ailanto hung a trifle at the end and may have been short. Miss Shanley was bumped and interfered with at the start. This considered, she ran a good race, and was running great guns at the finish. Emma M. showed her usual amount of speea and hung on more gamely than usual. There was a general closing up and changing of positions in the final furlong. Flaunt will not do at present. He was always outrun and showed no disposition to run like a good horse through the stretch. Scratched— 17924 Man of Honor, 100; 18292 Innovator, 102; 18166-Vain, 102. Start good. The first two were driving to the limit. It was a pretty race and wound up with a sensational finish. Becky Rolfe was perfectly ridden, had all the luck and as the race was run should have won. She fenced finely and Johnson rated her with clever judgment throughout but with victory in sight in the stretch he became overconfident and threw the race away. Durwad, after clearing the last fence, came with a sensational rush and Barton, kicking and whipping, stole a march on the slumbering Johnson. Globe 11. was in front and apparently going easy when he went down at the last jump. Globes fall was a novel one. His fore feet got tangled with the martingale, tripping him. Lord Chesterfield was thirty lengths in front of his field when he fell. He is a fine fencer. Governor Budd could not handle the weight and was never dangerous. Scratched— 18495 Phil Becker, 130. Winner -B. g. by King Alfonso -Joppa. Went to post at 4:00. Off at the first break to a good start. Won in a terrific drive of two. It was also a tight fit between third and fourth. Admetus won principally on account of the good ride he received. Caywood handled the gelding to perfection. Housed rare judgment throughout, took the shortest route and clearly outfinished Bassinger at the end. The Bobby perhaps should have won. He took the longest route, losing much ground on the stretch turn aud was weakly ridden at thfl end. The gelding displayed great gameness aud hung on with hull dog tenacity. Master Walsh bandied Ben Chance cleverly. The colt faltered for an instant at the head of tlie stretch, but came again under punishment, and squeezing through a tight hole nipped third place in the last jump. Hub Prather looked to ha ve a winning chance on the far turn, but weakened in the final drive. Monongah was beaten off all the win. Trimmer showed little or no speed. Caywood took a loui* chance to urct through at t he head of the stretch and succeeded. This saved a lot of ground and won the race. Heigh Ho showed l be most speed and looked all over a winner at the head of but hung at the end and short. Braw Lad the -tretch. was probably was right there all the way and ran hi* race. Tildy Ann was bumped and jostled at every turn. Maryland Reserve is consistent. George Krats made up a lot of ground in the last half mile. The track was too hard for Damocles. Weights considered, the gelding seemed on form a sure winner, and the price against him exorbitant. Vohicer was well handled, had good racing luck, and ran as well as could be expected. Brulare set a hot pace and did the very best she could. From the head of the stretch Julius Caesar closed a big gap. John Baker about ran his race, Graziella was handicapped by a bad ride.
