The latter fell at the post before the start and hurt his jockey. Sauce Boat had a very rough journey. The field was sent away in two sections. The first four at the start were closely bunched. Formalis was much the best and won a6 she pleased, although Sidelight carried her out in the stretch. The latter was prominent at all breakaways before the start, but tired at the end. It was anybodys race to the final sixteenth, where it seemingly narrowed down to a fight between Lamp Globe and Zoroaster, but Chopin, who was on the outside all the way, got up about the seventy yards mark and, crowding Zoroaster into Lamp Globe, made the latter pull up, and won in a desperate finish. Chopin was best at the weights, as he ran much further than -any of the others. Captive was gaining at the end. Free Lance tired in the stretch. Chopin, place, U to 1; show, 7 to 10.
