Hughes had him out before i six oclock and after a little warming he was I sent to the half mile pole with Boland in the saddle, accompanied by Praetorian. The pace i was fast from the first, the fractional time being, one-eighth. 121*3 seconds ; quarter, 25; three-, eighths, 37; half, 494 ; five-eighths, 1:024; three-, quarters, 1 :14V, ; one mile, 1:41; mile and one-eighth, 1 :54i ; mile and one-quarter, 2:084, and mile and a half, 2:354. The colt had to be punished a bit in the last quarter, and though he pulled up sound and well, he knew he had been a journey. Praetorian was outrun before a mile was reached.
