Winner — B. c, by Galore- Minerva. Weui to post at 2:15. At post 5 minutes. Start good. The first five were closely bunched I and driving to the limit. Prince Plenty is a useful colt and races most consistently. He came fast through the stretch and barely got up in time to win. Tayon is a coward, but hung on longer i than usual aud ran a fairly good race. Orion appeared all over a winner on the far turn, but hung when tlie pinch came. Inna S. broke well in her stride aud showed early speed. Joe McGhee was roughly treated and ran better than the figures show. Loyaletta closed stoutly through the stretch. Rival Dare had a stormy journey. Lucille Bramble looked thin and drawn and showed weakness in the race. Scratched 17266Bicor. 101. Off at the first break to a good start. Won hand ridden ; second and third were doing their best. Mr. Brown is a big. fine-looking colt aud seems to possess stamina and speed. He was cleverly handled and came away on call in the stretch. Arthur Behan ran a smashing good race. He was used considerably during the early part of the race, and this told on him when the pinch came, but nevertheless he hung on gamely, and will probably be a hard horse to beat from now on. Wax ran his race. Lake Mills was jammed into the fence and almost thrown, but McDermott managed to keep the colt on his feet and he ran a good, game race. Troubaline had a lot of hard luck early aud made up a lot of grouud in the last half. Frangible is not much at present. Bermuda Prince was never dangerous and is only an ordinary selling plater at his best. Scratched— 18466 The Lady, 112; 17726-Lamachus, 109. Overweights— Shrove Tuesday. 4 pounds; Lake Mills, 3. Winner Ch. g, by The Hero— Little Grove Queen. Went to post at 3:15. Off at the first break to a good start. Won in a terrific drive : second, third, fourth and fifth were also hard at it. Money Muss was all in a tangle at the start. McDermott • rode the gelding with excellent judgment and by taking the short route and not being in a hurry to make his move he managed to get up ju6t in time. McDermotts ride was a finished one. Denizulu ran a cracking good race, but hung in the last twenty yards. Burns got Fred ! He.-sig off flying and at the head of the stretch the colt appeared all over a winner. He was in between Money Muss and Denizulu and in the final drive was interfered with considerably, causing Burns to pull up. Invictus showed speed, but quit in the stretch. The same can be said of Regea. Matin showed but little speed. Scratched 17921Janowood, 108; Propeller. 110. Overweights — Prowler, 4 pounds. Money Muss, place. 8 to 5; show, 4 to 5. Won cleverly; second, third and fourth driving to the limit. All Gold was lucky, well ridden, and ran a high-class race. Walsh i alwas had the colt in a good position, also used good judgment, and made his run at the right 1 time. Advance Guard ran a grand race and won for himself many new admirers for the American Derby. Master J. Mart in was hardly strong enough to do the colt justice, and after being bumped iuto l.y Eva Rice on the fir-t turn the boy did not have strength enough to keep Advance ■ Guard up and the colt fell to his knees, losing many lengths. This, and the fact that Advance 9 Guard was conceding big chunks of weight to all the other starters, stamps him as one of the best three year-old:- shown in the west thus far. From the half mile post home Advance Guard closed grouud rapidly, displaying great gameness. The Monk ran a good race, and alter being I ■hat off on the stretch turn finished stoutly. W. Overton was abort and rank. He set a terrific i.ace with his head high up in the air. but when he stopped he stopped all over. Fly By Night had a rough jonmej arid swerved under punishment m the -t retch. Mint Sauce rau well for ■bout a half mile, then quit badlj. All Eva Rice did was to interfere with Advance Guard. Winner— B. g, by Reputation— Silhouette. Went to post at 4 :20. At post 12 minutes. Start good. The first four were right there and fighting hard. Kid Cox was best and had to be to win. Miller had him all over the course, interfered with everything within his reach and seemed to be riding with his eyes closed. Kid Cox never got really straightened out and well into his stride until the stretch was reached then he came like a shot out of a gnu. Tenny Belle had the most speed and had all the luck in the race but she is not game and in the last twenty yards stopped almost to a walk. Iceni ran a smashing good race for a new beginner. Jiminez is a fine, big, good looking colt and acts like he may develop into a good racer. Boomerack and Hanswurst were l oth almost thrown over the fence by Kid Cox at about the three-eighths post. Miller was set down indefinitely for his careless and incompetent ride on Kid Cox. Kid Cox, place, evens; show, 1 to 2. Tenny Belle, place, 9 to 5; show, 7 to 10. Iceni, show, to 1. The Elector is in good form aud ran a good game race. He did not show speed enough to keep up in the first part of the race, but through the stretch he came with a tremendous rush and won in the very last stride. Knight did not have either whip or spur on Gold Fox and under these circumstances did the best he could, but may have been a trifle over-confident. The race was a fast one and Gold Fox showed himself to be a horse of good class. Erwin was much used in pacemaking and hung at the end. Sidbow ran a fair race, but quit in the st retch. Cherry Leaf seemed dangerous on the far turn, but weakened under pressure at the end. Astor was outclassed and shot his bolt early. Norford showed little or no speed. Cherry Leaf pulled up lame.
