Winner— Br. h. by Haydeu Edward-— Bettie Blaise. Went to po«l at 2:30. At post 3 minute-. Start good. Won easily; second whipped out; third eased up. Bannockburn received a good ride and showed a touch of his real form. He is a grand horse and was in a soft spot here, and the price against him was a royal one. Zoroaster had no excuses and is in his best form. He is a shifty gelding, but not in the same class with Bannockburn. Burns placed W. Overton in the early part of the journey and on the far turn appeared to have a w inning chance, but in the run through the stretch he was out-sprinted. Red Pirate, far out-classed, made a good showing. Botli Silver Garter and Flaunt tired in the stretch. Bannockburn. place, S to 5; show, out. Zoroaster, place, evens; show, out. W. Won kicked out; the next three were driving to the limit. Jiminez is a promising colt, and under an indifferent ride ran a good race. Rose hecame a trifie careless toward the end and in the last few strides had to kick Jiminez a few times to stall off The Braves rush at the end. The Brave was outrun in the first part of the race, but in the last three furlongs made up a lot of ground and ran a smashing good race. Daugerline was off flying, well handled, and was lucky to be third. Miller rode a poor race on Battus. who was perhaps a trifle short and tired at the end. M. L. Rothschild is a fine looking colt, by Hoinulless, and will do to watch. Overweights— Tin Brave. I.1 pounds. Jiminez, place, out. The Brave, place, 7 to 1 ; show. 2 to 1. Winner— Ch. c, by Great Tom— Nellie Van. Went to post at 3:30. Off at the first break to a perfect start. The first two were driving to the limit. It was a spectacular finish and it created a tremendous sensation. Advance Guard is a jjrand colt and ran a grand race. He was outsprinted in the first part of the race but closed gradually on the leaders after passing the half-mile post and squeezing through a tight hole at the head of the stretch barely got up in time. He is as game as a pebble and outstayed Sam Phillips. The latter had no excuses. He was ridden to perfection and wa simply not good enough to heat Advance Guard. Sam Phillip- swerved a trifle under punishment at the head of the stretch and came near fouling Advance Guard. Brulare ran a good race and can win when placed right. The same can be said of Einstein. Nobleman showed a flash of speed early. Etta ran ■ bad race and is probably not over her fright caused by her recent fall. Overweights— Brulare, 1 pound. Advance Guard, place. 1 to 2. Sam Phillips, place. 1 to 2. Brulare. show, evens. "T k FOURTH RACE— 3-4 Mile. 00 added. 5 to second ; 5 to third. 1UL Ow»JJ 3-year-olds amUupward. Selling. Winner— B. g. by Leonatus— Dahlia. Went to post at 4 :00. At post 2 minutes. Start good. The first three finished closely bunched and were driving to the limit. Rinaldo 11. was ridden in ma-terly fashion and came through the -t letch with a tremendous rush, winning in the very last stride. Teucer ran a good, game race and, perhaps, should have won. Like Rinaldo 11., Midwood came with a whirlwind rush through h e stretch. There was a general changing of positions in the final furlong. Heigh Ho set a terrific pace and tired at the end, as did John Grigs by aud The Pride. Graziella took the longest route, finishing ou the extreme outside. The stewards sent Rinaldo II. back to the paddock after he had started to the post with orders for Caywood to wear spars. Rinaldo II.. place, 5 to 1 ; show. 2 to 1. Winner— Ch. g, by Inspector B— Pansy Blossom. Went to post at 4 JS. Off at the first break to an excellent start. Won easily ; second and third were doing their best. The Bobby loafed all down the backstretch and never started to run until the half-mile p st was passed, then he went to the leaders like a Hash, and at the end was going away. Lake Mills is a good looker aud is al o a fairly good horse. He had all kinds of bad luck in the race, but stood it gamely. The Monks race was below his mark. He had clear sailing all the way, with the exception of a trifle of interference at the three-eighths post, when he fell out of it. then through the stretch he came with a tremendous rush. Norford looked all over a m inner at the head of the stretch, but he weakened under pres.-ure at the end. Lady Elite showed speed in between po.-ts, and seems to be becoming good. Watch her. Morris was the best anil was never fully extended. Clay had a stout hold of his head all the way and the colt made his field look cheap. Pope Leo was right there all the way, aud will be a hard horse to beat the next time lie starts. Onomastus ua» well ridden and did hi best. This horse will do better in the mud. Bergen improved a trifle ou Innovator and rode a good race. Little Reggie had bad luck early aud made up much ground ju the final in, alter, lzuik broke running and showed some speed, but could not carry it far. John A. Morris, place, 7 to 5; ahow, 3 to 5.
