NOTES OF THE TDRF. Payment of the purse won by Duplicate at Newport has been protested and, pending an investigation by the judges, it will be held by the Qaeen City Jockey Club. Jim McCann, the owner of Flora Daniels, that ran second to Duplicate, lodged a protest with Secretary Sullivan on information furnished by Mose Ooldblatt, who is said to be an expert on horses that are outlawed. In his protest McCann alleges that Duplicate ran on an outlawed track at Dayton, Ohio, in the company of two outlawed horses, uamely, Taunton and Red Bird Jr. In consequence, McCann asks that the purse won by Duplicate be given to Flora Daniels. The judges will investigate the case. Duplicate is owned by W. Cox, who deuies Mc-Canns charges. At the July meeting of the Jockey Club Perry Belmont will offer the following resolution : "Resolved, That all associations conducting race meetings under the jurisdiction of the Jockey Club be requested to give at least one weight-for-a«e race at each meeting, the distances of such races to be at the option of the associations, but not to be less than the following scale : In May and June, one mile ; July and August, one mile and a quarter; September, October and November, one mile and a half, one mile and three-quarters and two miles. Jockey Nichols, who was ruled off by the California Jockey Club and has not been reinstated, rode at the Honolulu meeting June 11. A protest was made against his riding, but it was overruled. The crack colt Black Fox, 2, by St. George-Marie Jansen, the property of A. Featherstone, has gone wrong and is in the hands of the veterinary.
