Winner— Br. h, by Hanover— Lady Abbess. Went to pest at 2:30. OH at the hrsc break to a good start. Won cleverly; second and third were under keen pressure The Elector is in excellent form, was well ridden and ran a high-class race. He was going away from the others at the end and pulled up not the least bit distressed. Lieutenant Gibson skinned the rail on the first turn and in fact saved all the ground possible, having no excuses and running his best race. Zoroaster i.~ a good, consistent gelding, but Martin is altogether too ligiic to do him justice, and let him swerve badly in the stretch. This horse is in winning form. Highland Lad showed a lot of speed, but hung when the pinch came. Flaunt ran ■ fair race. So did Serrano, who was high in flesh, showed a lot of speed and pulled up sound. Winner -Br. ■, by Hindoo-Cherry Blossom. Went to post at 3:05. At post 10 minutes. Start fair. Won cleverly at the end after an early-drive; second, third, fourth and fifth doing their best. Alard Scheck was the best, best ridden, and was going away at the finish. He is a good colt, likes a route, and i-as game as a pebble. Harry Herendeen ran a fine race. He bad a hard time in getting through early and was "roughed" considerably at the head of the stretch by Alard Scheck and Burns. Kid Cox made up a Jot of ground from the head of the stretch home. Jiminez was bumped into and almost thrown on the far turn. He was going well in hand when this interference occurred, and with clear sailing would have been a keen contender. Admonition, for a new beginner, made a good Bhowiug and should win a maiden race soon. Lasance and Queen oDay collided and both almost fell at the three-eighths post. Winner -Ch. g. by Candlemas— Flibbertigibbet. Went to post at 3:45. At pott IK minutes. Start good for all but Sidney Lucas. Won well in hand. There was sharp action behind the winner. Fly By Night improved suddenly under Bull-mau, ami ran one of his best rapes. Bullman saved the gelding cleverly at the post and rode skilfully throughout. Sam Phillips finished with a tremendous rush. Burns had to take him back on the first turn to avoid being interfered with, and after that, perhaps, waited too long before making his move. Considering the weight that Sam Phillips was giving away his race was a cracking good one. The colt looked a trifle stale at the post, and i.-., perhaps, staling off. Andes ran a crackiug good race, but hung a bit at the end. He is in excellent form and will be hard to beat from now on. Cambrian was running under a double pull on the far turn, but when Caywood called on him the colt seemed to sprawl all over the track. Bangle ran a good race under his heavy impost. Jolly Roger seemed to sulk in the first part of the race, and was also roughly treated on the far turn, when Vandusen made his move. Martin was helpless on Sidney Lucas and the colt simply plodded all the way. Found was raced into subjection by Fly By Night iu the first three-quarters. Winner— B. h. by Brutus— Beauty. Went to post at 4 :35. At post 5 minutes. Start straggling. Won driving to the limit. The first 6ix were closely bunched and all were driving hard. The Roman came with a rush at the 1 end and barely got up in time. He had a rough journey and ran a smashing good race. Orimar : perhaps should have won. For some unknown reason he dropped far back after passing the half I mile post. aLd Bassinger did not seem to make a move until the race was practically over. Patroon improved a lot since his last race. Jim McCleevy seemed dangerous at the head of the i stretch, but hung at the end. Bullman rode Sam McKeever hard all the way. Bermuda Prince ! ran a good race as far as he went. He is a fair sort of selling plater. Neither Honeywood nor | Tulla Fonso had a chance from where they got off. Scales quit in the stretch. Croesus had an easy race. Scratched-18822 Sea Knight, 106; 18884 Bi-hop Reed, 103; 18853-Lake Mills, 102. Overweights— Croesus, 4s pounds. The Roman, place, evens ; show, 1 to 2. May Beach is in excellent form, and smothered her r field with superior speed. Caywood st le a big lead early and the other boys hardiy knew which way he went. Mid wood ran a good race, but was outclassed by the winner." Ailantogot awav all tangled up, and this considered he ran a better race than the figures show. Hagerdon is impVov-iug. In Shot showed the most speed, hugged the rail all the way and ran a surprisingly good race. Buchanan whipped the filly for an instant at the head of the stretch to keep her from loafing, and at the end she was going away. Fancy Wood was badly outrun in the flr9t part of the race, but finished with a terrific rush. Cora Goetz hung in the last hundred yards.
