Won driving to the limit: second, third and fourth also hard at it, Mr. Brown was well ridden and ran a high class race, but was lucky to win. He w*s tiring fast at the end and barely lasted long enough to win. Advance Guard was the best. Bullman messed him about badly, being shut off several different times, finishing on the extreme inside, where the going was cuppy. Scales ran a fine race. He had bad luck during the journey, but finished with a tremendous rush and seems to be a good gelding. Wax had no excuses and did his best. Dissolute showed a lot of speed, but quit and swerved badly in the stretch. Scratched— 19290 Silver Coin, 112. Mr. Brown, place, 4 to 5; show, 1 to 2. Advance Guard, place. 1 to 2; dhow. out. Winner — B f. by Inspector B.— Sun Maid. Went to post at 3:00. Off at the first break to a fair start. Won easily at the end after an early drive; second and third were under keen pressure. Espionage, under a fine ride, ran a clever race. She was well rated throughout, got through a small hole at the head of the stretch, and finished with a rush like a good filly. George K rats was right there all the way and ran a good race. Hard Knot had no excuses other than that he was probably short. Bullman rode a perfect race on the horse and made his move at the right time. Red Pirate ran to the notch. Toribio showed speed, but was used up in racing with George Krats in the first part of the race. Tappan was slow to get to going and did not eIiow his usual speed. He was hard ridden all the way. but would not extend himself. Prince Blazes is a bad horse these davs. Scratched— 19241Limerick, 101. Winner— B. c. by Star Ruby— Tyranny. Went to post at 3:35. Off at the first break to a fair start. Won driving and out to t he last ounce: the next five were also driving to the limit. Vitelline was well saved during the early-part of the race and came with a rush though the stretch. He was very tired at the end and barely la-ted loog enough to win. Kid Cox had a rough journey and ran a cracking good race. With clear sailing he could not have lost. Fancy Wood showed a lot of speed, had clear sailing and had no excuses. She was all out at the end, however, and staggering. Searcher, from a bad beginning and after being knocked out of the race when going down the backstreteh, made up much ground and ran a good, game race. Silverdale had no excuses and simply hung when the pitch came. Boomerack was almost thrown on the fence when passing the half mile ground and had to pull up to keep from going down. Morris had all of his speed and set a terrific pace. From the sixteenth post home lie was all out and fairly staggered under the wire. Winkfield resorted to foul tactics at the head of the stretch and for doing -1, was disqualified. On the stretch bend Winkfield went wide with John A. Morris and Hos.-. seeing ■ chance 10 save much ground, came up on the inside and with every stride v. a-gaining on the leader. Winkfield, feeling Morris tiring under him. thought it the proper thing to impede Gold Fox as much as possible and deliberately pulled in on him knocking him oil hi- stride. Rut for the interference Gold Fox would probably have won. as he -eemed to be going strongest of the lot at that time. The Lady ran a good, game race and Bergen rode her well. Headwater was never a contender. Scratched-19242 The Elector. 112. Ovf rweight. — John A. Morris. 2 pound-. The Lady , place. 0 to 5: show. out. Gold Fox, place, out. At post 6 minutes. Won driving and out to the last ounce: second, third, fourth and fifth were also hard at it. Miss Shanley had good racing luck throughout, but barely lasted long enough to win. The filly was staggering and out to the last ounce and would have been beaten in another stride. Patroon ran a smashing good race and should have won. He was interfered with often but stood it gamely and finished resolutely under punishment. Silver Garter showed speed but hung when the pinch came. Bicor came with a rush in the stretch and would have been third in another stride. Sim W. was roughly treated on the stretch turn, otherwise he would have been hard to beat. Ross started through with him on the inside, but was badly interfered with by Olekma and was almost thrown over the fence. The route was hardly far enough for Vohicer. High Jinks got away fully in his stride, had speed to loan and was never fully extended. He is a shifty selling plater, but has bad legs. Little Reggie was well ridden and ran his best race.
