Off at the first break. Start good. The first six were driving hard. Bugaboo is a good game filly that likes a route, and under a hard drive came from a long way | back in the stretch. Woodstick also ran gamely. He had a lot of bad luck and perhaps with | clear sailing would have won. Fondo was away Hying, had clear sailing, and judging from this ] race does not amount to much. When Grandon collapsed in the stretch he swerved badly, crowd- | iug Omdurmau, Hurry and Janowood into the fence. The former could not have been worse rid- | den had Dupee tried. He got into every pocket and messed the colt about generally. Overweights-Simmonswald, 4 pounds ; Fondo, 1 ; Woodstick. 2. Bugaboo, place, 8 to 5: show, 4 to 5. Winner— Br. f. by Tournament— Marsa. Went to post at 2:45. Off at the second break. Won in a long, hard drive of two; third and , fourth were doing their best. Marsara was well ridden, took the shortest route and stood a long hard drive gamely. Goebel perhaps should have won. Dupee lost much ground by swinging wide in the stretch and was of little help to him when the pinch came. Onomastus also suffered from poor handling. Knight was slow in getting away and used the colt a great deal in getting up in the first part of the race. He also dropped Onomastus head when he went after his whip, allowing the colt to swerve from the center of the track to the extreme inside. Goldone made a fair showing. Algareta is stale and badly in need of a rest. Scratched— 19448 Hermoso, 124; 15467 Maharajah, 98; 15466 King Bermuda, 106; 18805 Con-tractor Lynch, 95; 18577 Candelabrum, 93. Won hand ridden but out to the last ounce ; second Driving to the limit. Fancy Wood was far the best and had to be to win. She met with a lot of interference on the far turn, but luckily got through on the turn and outgamed Barbara M. at the end. The latter ran a cracking good race, and had Rose come on with her at the head of the stretch instead of looking back she might have won. Regea showed a fine turn of speed but, under a weak ride at the end, tired badly. Bonnie Lissak ran below the mark. Fairy Day rana good race and can be marked for early action. The first three were close together and driving to the limit. Limelight, under a «ood ride, barely lasted long enough to win. He was a very tired horse in the last twenty yards and Knight used excellent judgment in not drawing his whip. Lomond improved suddenly and came through the stretch like a whirlwind. Guest Me got away fully in hat stride and showed a flash of her old time speed and perhaps could have won with a stronger ride. Barney F. ran a good, game race. So did Sir Kenneth, who was interfered with a dozen different times. Repay showed some speed early but quit in a stride on the far turn. Overweights— Talma, 1 pound. Alcedo is a cracking good colt and is in excellent form. He loafed under a stout pull all the way and was never asked to do his best. The Unknown improves with every , race and will probably be hard to beat when next out. J. Walsh is hardly strong enough to do l bin justice, t-carlet Lily ran a good race and Florizar, who seemed to sulk, a bad one. Greenock doe- not seem to be of much present account. Off at the first break to a good start. _ Won well in hand ; second, third and fourth were under keen pressure. Cogmoosey got away flying and won all the way. He is a handy selling plater. Vincennes ran a smashing good race, but was outclassed by the winner. Catastrophe would have given the winner a stout argument with better racing luck. Just as Horting was making his run the gelding stumbled and fell to his knees. Donation made up much ground in the last half mile. Kentucky Babe showed a lot of speed. Dutch Comedian wua lucky in getting away, had clear sailing throughout, and won without an effort. L. T. Catou was much used in racing to the front down the backstretch and when the pinch came he swerved badly and just did stagger in second. Frangible, after being sharply interfered with on the tint turn, made up much ground and ran a good race. Aloha II. showed a lot of speed. Little Land had a rough journey. Celeritas seems to be of little or no present account. The Sluggard looked high and was not ready. Scratched— 194 72- Josephine B., 98. Dutch Comedian, place, 2 to 1 ; show evens. L. T.
