HAWTHORNES NEXT MEETING. Six stakes, six handicaps and six steeplechases are on the program for the meeting of the Chicago Jockey Club, which opens at Hawthorne next Monday. One decided novelty in this part of the country is a steeplechase over the full course, which is about two and a quarter miles. The stake list is as follows: Monday. August 20— Olympia Stakes, one mile, for three-year-olds and upward. 50 added; 29 nominations. Thursday, August 23— Prairie Stakes, five and a half furlongs, for two-year-olds. 00 added; 50 nominations. Saturday. August 25— Endurance Stakes, two miles, for three-year-olds and upward. 00 added; 30 nominations. Tuesday. August 28— Competition Stakes, six furlongs, for two-year-olds. S7C0 added ; 23 nominations. Thursday. August 30— Superior Stakes, one and one-eighth miles, for three-year-olds, 00 added; 21 nominations. Saturday. September 1.- Emerald Stakes, handicap steeplechase over full course, for three-year-olds and upward. 00 added; 19 nominations. Besides these the ordinary number of 4C0 Pirse events will be run each day. All the stalls at Hawthorne are spoken for, many owners having wired their intention to ship here from St. Louis and Saratoga.
