Winner — Ch. c, by Ben Strome— Mint Julep. Went to post at 1 :10. At post 5 minutes. Start very bad. Won ridden out : second the same: They were stretched out for almost a sixteenth. Brandy Smash wa6 among the lucky ones at the start and was well ridden by OConnor. He was all out at the end and with riders reversed Jils Greenwood would have been the winner. Holcomb rode a fair race but was not strong enough to help Lim at the end. Yalliere. running ninth all the way, came with a rush and finished fast. Annu was the best in the race, got off last, and worked through the field and was finishing very strongly. Cogswell had no excuses, beat the flag, but stopped badly in the stretch. McAddie-was much the best, went to the front at the end of the first quarter and was drawing away at the end. Termless ran more gamely than usual. He hung on well until in the last furlong, when Mc Addie drew away. Telamon did not like the going, but ran his race. The others appeared to be outclassed. Mee-hanus showed the most speed of the lot and was eased up all the "way through the stretch. Sparrow Wing seemed dangerous at the head of the stretch, but tired at the end. She should have been second, but McCue did not see John Verkes until the last few strides. John Yerkes ran a splendid race. He was outrun in the first part of the raca, but made up considerable ground in the stretch. Gibraltar did not look well and may need a rest. Meehanus. place, 1 to 2. John Yerkes. place. 7 to 10. Ben Eder fell at the fifth hurdle when leading by several lengths, and would probably have beaten Dr. Eichberg. as he was running easily at the time. He was remounted and finished.
