Luck was about the only one that had a chance when the flag fell and got off running with the others strung out several lengths apart. Luck had plenty left but with an even break Kid would have won as he made up much ground. Taveta would have also beaten Luck with any kind of a nearly even break. Guess Work showed no great speed. Koeng was best after Tyr bhena retired. He was drawing away at the end and had something left. Godfrey ran well and appeared like the winner at ihe beginning of the last furlong. Tim Gainey was outrun in the fi/st part of the race, but closed with a rush. Kufa showed earjy speed, but tired ; as did also Spurs. Gibraltar looked and ran better than on the occasion of his last appearance and was on the outside all the way which cost him some ground. Ralston showed fine speed to the stretch and then tired. Mee-hanus was in poor condition to 6tart. He was very lame and did not show his usual speed. Els e Barnes, off last, ran a good race. High Jinks ran well. Water Plant was well ridden and was drawing away at the end, but was all out. Punctual showed improvement and much speed for a half mile, but tired at the end. Cogswell had poor luck, ran a quarter in two breaks and in the race was knocked to last. He was closing fast at the end. King Bramble ran to his best form, but could never get up to Intrusive. First Whip was sore when going to the post and was slightly interfered with on the first turn, but ran a good race.
