HBNRY KURTS GOOD RACE There was some really good racing at Lake eido yesterday and it was a treat for the crowd to get to the track away from the heat and duet of the city cityA A cool breeze was always to be found at some corner of tho course and the man with the sprinkling cart kept the dust well laid during the entire afternoon afternoonSecretary Secretary Nathanson got together several Derby candidates in the third race which was at one mile and this event was the center of attraction It furnished an interesting contest but tho outcome was rather unsatisfactory inas ¬ much as the winner Henry Burt got away in front and had clear sailing all the way while Mr Cushings good colt Dyxona got off last and was badly interfered with on the first turn The Bersan Katherine Baseett colt won rather handily however and the chances are he would have beaten Dyxona the way they were hitched up on this particular occasion without being favored by racing luck Still there are always any amount of ifs and ands after ovory race and it is thn opinion of a majority of the horsemen that the Gushing colt would probably have won with an equal break and no interference However Henry Bnrt went to the front at the start and after setting the pace to suit himeelf won without any hard effort Leo NewelJ with Coburn up gave Dyxona tho stoutest of arguments for second place and was only beaten by a nose for that position positionUncle Uncle Jim Gray told a few friends after the Henry Bnrt race that the colt recently worked a mile at Lakeside with his weight up in 143 143Patroon Patroon the 7 to 10 heavily backed favorite made a ecandalcus showing in the second race and thie famished material to gossip about tho entire afternoon Patrcon was three lengths in the lead and running under a stout pull on the stretch turn when he bolted to the extreme outside losing about ten lengths oi ground and letting Prestar come through on the inside and win The crowd did not see Pa ¬ troon bolt and was at once up in arms against master Baker who rode the horse As a matter of fact Baker did the best he could to keep Pa troon straight and all through the last furlong beat tho horse over the nose with the butt one of his whip It was one of those peculiar things that are bound to happen in horse rac ¬ ing for which no one can be blamed blamedMr Mr Cuehiog uncovered what may be a stake colt in John A Clarke in the first race who won in fast time with the greatest of ease This youngster is a handsome piece of racing ma ¬ chinery by the Worlds Fair Derby winner Boundless May Bee BeeBarouche Barouche and Crowhnrst eeem to be a hare combination to beat and in a sensational way tho pair won a well earned victory from Yana in the fourth race Barouche was badly outrun in the first part of the race and on the home turn seemed hopelessly beaten but she came through on the ineide with a rnehunder terrific punishment and won going away awayThe The fifth went to Jake Weber who led from end to end and Annowan after sulking for the first half mile mile in the sixth finally took a notion to run and beat his field rather handily Jockey Dominick will probably be seen in the saddle at Lakeside today todayCoburn Coburn left last night for Louisville to ride a horse for Tom Hayes in the Turf Congress Handicap HandicapIt It was stated yesterday at the track that The Conqueror II had worked a mile and a furlong in 1 55 Coburn has been employed to ride him in ThursdayBolich the big Handicap at Worth Thursday Bolich Sweet bought Fishers Hornpipe yesterday for 800 fitota G B WatkinsJ
