WASHINGTON PARKS PROGRAM Secretary James Howard is the author of neat little book now ready for distribution that will interest horseman vastly It is the program book of the Washington Park Club meeting of this good year Outwardly it is a duplicate of last years program book but inside of the covers it is different in that it shows clearly that the club will give outright some ¬ thing like 50000 more than it did last year This has no reference to the fees from horsemen bnt is the money to be paid from the clubs treasury direct to winning owners ownersThe The book gives the racing conditions for twentyone days four days being left blank for programs to be devised hereafter The lowest purse is of the value of 600 and the highest 1500 There are seventyfour purses of 600 each five of 700 each two of 800 one of 1000 Bix of 1400 and one of 1500 Those ranging in value ifrom 1000 to 1500 are for overnight handicaps The BIX 1400 handicaps and the 1500 handicap each have 1000 added by the 4 iub the surplus over and abpve those figures being American Turf Congress money which by the conditions of the races is to bo divided among the trainers and jockeys of the three placed horses in each case caseOn On the New York tracks two and sometimes throe stake races are run off on the same day bnt out west one stake has always been held to be a sufficient attraction for any single day For this yftar Secretary Howard has arranged that the Great Western Handicap and the Quick ¬ step Stakes are to be decided Saturday July C the Maywood Stakes and the Midwood Stakes Thursday July 11 while the closing day Satur ¬ day July 20 will witness the decision of the Lake View Handicap for twoyearolds as well as of the famous Wheeler Handicap The inno ¬ vation is welcome and makes room for the new stakes of the future futureThe The book is neatly indexed and besides the names of the horses nominated and the list of purses contains much of value to horsemen DAILY RACING FORM will furnish a copy to all who may apply for it itThe The stakes will be run off in the following order orderSaturday Saturday June 22 The American Derby 20 000 added 1 12 miles milesTuesday Tuesday June 25 The Lakeside Stakes 2000 added 58 mile mileWednesday Wednesday June 26 The Auburn Stakes 2000 added 1 116 miles milesThursday Thursday June 27 The Englewood Stakes 2000 added 1 mile mileSaturday Saturday June 29 The Oakwood Handicap 2500 added 1 18 miles milesTuesday Tuesday July 2 The Kenwood Stakes 2000 added 58 mile mileThursday Thursday July 4 The Sheridan Stakes 4000 added 1 14 miles milesSaturday Saturday July 6 The Great Western Handi ¬ cap 3000 added 1 12 miles milesSaturday Saturday July 6 The Quickstep Stakes 2000 added 12 mile mileTuesday Tuesday July 9 The Drexel Stakes 2000 added 1 mile mileThursday Thursday July 11 The Maywood Stakes 2000 added 58 mile mileThursday Thursday July 11 The Midway Stakes 2000 added 1 18 miles milesSaturday Saturday July 13 The Young Handicap 5000 added 1 316 miles milesTuesday Tuesday July 16 The Edgewater Stakes 2000 added 5 12 furlongs furlongsThursday Thursday July 18 The Hyde Park Stakes 3000 added 34 mile mileSaturday Saturday July 20 The Lake View Handicap 2000 added 34 mile mileSaturday Saturday July 20 The Wheeler Handicap 7500 added 1 14 miles
