a bad lot He met with sharp interference on the backstretch and Coburn was compelled to pull around the field on the far turn He however did not lose any more ground than he could possibly help and in the last quarter brought the colt up with a welltimed rush John Drake was on the inside all the way and had no mischances Remark broke flying showed a lot of speed for about a half and then faded away The same comment applies to Wampago as both these two were stagger ¬ ing at the finish Maud Reding ran a fairly good race from a poor beginning Oricius and Guy H both acted badly at the post Mr Smith showed speed but it was not lasting lastingGuy Guy H show 3 to 5 John Drake show 3 to 5 Remark show evens SECOND RACE 34 Mile Purse 5400 575 to second 25 to third 3vnarolds and nnward Selline Ind shortest route but simply was not equal to the occasion She is a nonstayer and after Hop Scotch carried her at top speed for the first quarter both quit Mark Miles get away all tangled up and did not get straightened out until the stretch was reached Then he finished very strongly Barbara B ran a fair race after getting away poorly It was a very ordinary lot lotCorrected Corrected weights Olekma winning Coburn got away poorly but persevered after that and waited until well staightened out for home before making his run Aransas boro in all through the stretch and it took Coburns best efforts to keep him from fouling Minerva Twenty yards out Cobnrn was obliged to pull Aransas head sideways to avoid causing a foul This was the direct cause of the colts defeat Minerva skinned the rails all the way and finished as game as a pebble Blue Ridge was under a drive for the last half mile Gracchi showed a lot speed but cried enough in the stretch when the pinch came Whatever chance Lou Woods route Laureate had all the bad luck He was bumped into by Monongah at the start and knocked to his knees After this Cobnrn seemed to be rattled and taking the igest route rode a poor race for him
