INCREASING PURSES PURSESAt At Saratoga Thursday the Saratoga Bacing Association announced that on and after Mon ¬ day next all overnight races except selling and maiden races will have 200 more added to each This may mean an increase of S150CO during the meeting This was brought about by Mr Wm C Whitney offering to individually donate a sum sufficient to cove the increase but the other officers refused to permit the president of the association to suffer such a loss and accordingly the horsemen will receive the benefit of the increase in purses This is of course pleasant news for them and speaks well for the new association associationIn In keeping with this liberality the always progressive Coney Island Jockey Club has de ¬ cided to largely increase the value of its purse offerings The following dispatch to DAILY BACING FOEM from Secretary Fellowes explains the clubs determination in terms that must prove highly satisfactory to owners ownersNEW NEW YORK NY August 9 The Coney Island Jockey Club has increased the added money to overnight events for the coming meeting to about 1000 each
