Kufa, much improved and easily the best of the others, finished Btrongly, Miss Mitchell but for bolting at several hurdles might have been closer up at the end. Cheeeemite will do better through the field and is very fit. Holland lost ground in taking hurdles and ran a generally bad race, whieh was foreshadowed in the betting. Captain January was green at the business. He was under a choking pull for the first mile, should improve greatly, as he can beat this kind on the flat. Went to post at 2:55. At post 8 minutes. Start good. Won easily; second driving. Wild Pirate came strongly in the stretch under a vigorous ride and won going away. Maltster and Barbara Frietchie with competent jockeys might have both beaten him. They were badly messed about and had little chance. Both ran impressive races. Pleasant Sail and Dr. Riddle raced each other into exhaustion in the first six furlongs, opening a big gap on the others and setting a very f aet pace. Wait Not closed ground at the end and should prove useful this fall. Margravi-ate lacked his usual speed and ran a bad race. The others were outclassed. Baron is improving steadily-1 and finished strongly and was easily bst of the others. Sir Oliver and Flywheel ran in improved form. Dixieline and Hyphen performed badly.
