Won driving; second easily. Shut Up ran a surprisingly good race, standing a drive all through the last eighth and showing game-nees, something which he has been supposed not to poesess. Lady Contrary was probably the best, but Harshberger was of little or no help to her when the final drive came. Big Injun closed a big gap in the last quarter, finishing fast. Sim W. was a false alarm, He got away poorly, but failed to show much speed thereafter, Little LoiB tired badly after tho first quarter had been run. Little Jack Horner ran well for five furlongs. SamelBon showed sharp improvement and ran to his best form. He ran Nellie Waddell into exhaustion in the first half and only tired in the last one hundred yards. Miracle II. finished fast and bears watching from now on, especially in the mud. Julia Junkin ran far below her true form, and the same is true of Nellie Waddell. Federal finished resolutely, but, the winner was a shade too much for him. Odnor began to tiro when entering the stretch and was well spent by tho time the line had been reached. Gonfalon finished strongly. Cambrian tired and quit when a furlong out. Reseda made a dangerous move just before entering the stretch, but faltered when the hard drive came. Balm of Gilead had enough when a furlong out. Frank Jones, always well up, tired just a trifle in the closing strides. Smiths Reel showed early speed.
