DENMAN THOMPSON AGAIN. Perfect racing weather prevailed at Worth yesterday, bringing ont one of the largest crowds of the season at this popular track. The sport was tip-top in all particulars, a few of the finishes being of that close order that moves the spectators to the highest pitch of excitement. Tho track waB very fast and good time was made in all the races. The stellar attraction of the day was the Bidgeland Handicap for three-year-olds and upward at one and one-sixteenth miles, with 00 added. Of the eight carded to start Vul-cain and Boiling Boer were withdrawn, leaving a field of six to battle for the purse. The adjustment of the weights made the contest a very open one and it proved to be the best betting races that has come off in some time. Cambrian was made a 7 to 5 favor to, but failed to show to any advantage, finicking fifth. Tho winner turned up in Denman "Thompson, which reversed suddenly from his tour showing of several days before and ran a high-class race. As good as 10 to 1 could be had against his chances at post time, Cambrian led by a short margin for the first quarter, where he was joined by Odnor, the two running as one horse up to the turn for home, where both began to weaken. Along in hare Federal forged slightly to tho front and held the" van up to the last eighth, where he was joinod by Denman Thompson. Both were ridden hard, but in the laBt one hundred yards Denman Thomp-son gradually wore Federal down and beat him out in a ding-dong finish by a short neck. Odnor finished third three lengths back. Cambrian tired badly in the last eighth. Gonfalon finished stoutly. Beeeda made a dangerous move when turning for home but grew leg weary when the hard drive came. After Denman Thompsons victory of yesterday he can be given serious consideration in . any kind of company. US- , rrrn5 ? .... McChesney plainly demonstrated that he ib the superior of all youngsters racing hereabout by taking the third race, a Ecramble of five and a half furlongs for two-year-olds in the easiest manner possible. Nellie Waddell, closely at-tended by I. Samelson, showed, the way for the first half, where she cried quit. I. Bamelson then continued in front up to the final eighth, where he was challenged by GaUantrie, but while tha two wero fighting for supremacy "Winkfield brought McChesney up with a rush, passing them as if thoy were tied and winning in a canter by two and a half lengths. GaUan trie finally shook off I. Samelson in the closing strides, beating him a length for Becond money. Miracla II. ran a fair race and was right there at the finish. I. Samelsons sudden awakening was edifying. Nellie Waddells race was far from hor best form and if it is true she is not within weeks of a good effort. Julia Junkin ran far helow expectation. Shut Up, after many unsuccesnfnl attempts, finally won a bracket for himself, winning the days opener in a desperate drive by a head on the post from Lady Contrary. He showed great gameness in tho last quarter and stood a drive of an eighth of a milo. Lady Contrary was probably tho best, but was the victim of a bad ride. She beat Big Injun three lengths for second place. Fleetwing was made a decided favorito in this race, but was never a sariona contender at any part of it. Sim NY. was well thought of by many, but as usual ran a dull race. Valdez, nndor a well judged ride by Knight, Droved to be much the best in the race over a Derby route. Ho was rated along in fifth position until just beforo turning for home where be was called upon and darted to the front in a bound. He won by two lengths easily from Delorains, which heap Barilla a neck for second place. Tammany Chief with his light impost was the medium of heavy hacking, but could not make good and failing badly when the rub camn. Sarilla had enough in the last oighth. Linden Ella showed spool for one and a quarter miles. Tho winner of the fifth raco, a dash of five furlongs for two-year-olds, turned up in Hope-dale which closrd np fast after moving into the last quarter and won rather easily by a length from Bed Hook, ehe beating Our Pride a head for second place. The next four horses were lapped on. Bad Hook was probably the best and had he met with any kind of good racing lnck could hardly have lost. Both Smiths Beel and Balm cf Gilo ad ran well for four furlongs. Kohnwreath won a lucky race when she croesod over tho line a nose in the load of The Boer. She finished fast through the.last eighth but in tha closing strides The Boar moved up like a shot and would have won in anothor stride. St. Cuthbert was right there at the finish. Ho closed up stoutly next to the inside rail. Small Jack showed speed but had enough when opposite the paddock gate. Emma B. as usual showed a clever turn of speed but went to the roar when the crucial test came. Bival Dare ran far below expectations.
