I SAN FKAJfCISCO RACING. Bacing will begin at San Francisco and Louisville Saturday next, bringing about the unusual feature of five different tracks being the theater of active operations in the month of Novembar. The California campaign of 1901-2 will open with a month of racing at Oakland, with a similar period to follow at Tanforan, if in the meantime permission to race at Ingle-side has not been secured. If the supervisors remove ho intardict from the latter fine track it is to be presumed it will be given the preference over Tanforan because of its much better location, it being readily accessible by several lines of street cars as well as by the Southern Pacific. It would be sure to draw a greater holiday soason attendance than either of the other two tracks. The character of the entries to tha stakes which closed October 5 assures that San Fran-cieco patrons of racing are to enjoy a season of sport that will compare favorably with that of tho past few years. Some few owners prominent in racing operations last year, Sam Hildreth and Pat Dunne for instance have not sent their horses on for the coming campaign but others new to coast racing have taken their places so on the whole the prospect is for horses in abundance and the best of racing at San Francisco as well as at the other big center of winter racing. The star event of the racing Saturday will be the Opening Handicap, a dash of one mile for three-year-olds and upward for a guaranteed stake of ,500 for which the entries and weights are as follows : Horse.
