YEii.KIiINGS AT SKEEPiHEAD BAY. The pleasant weather that prevailed at Shoepshcad Bay Monday had tha affect of bringing tho trainers and racers to the open in con -spicuous.numberB. Tho track was harrowed during the morning, and, being in prima shape, scores of racers were sent to exercise ovor it, There was no speoding done, of course, but several sets of yearlings were sent to small gallops through the. front stretch, Trainer William O. Scully showed a set of four yearlings as follows : Bay colt, by Faverdale Adore. Bay colt, by Longflight Hoyden. Chestnut colt, by Onondaga Bay Belle. Brown colt, by St. George Maria Jensen. The last named, which is a brother to Black Fox, is a crack on"" looks, and easily the pick of a fine quartet. He is the property of W. B. Fanehawe, and cost ,000. Glannellie and Josepha have been seat to the Holmdel farm in New Jersey. Glannellia will be raced no more, . but JoBepha will be trained by Mr. Scully during the coming season. J. H. McCreery has takencharge of tha L. M. Meyers horses, lately in the hands of trainer Scully. They are comfortably quartered in the old Albert Cooper stable on the backstrotch, and are composed of Baron, Leonora Loring, Electre?s and eight yearlings. Trainer McCreery is well pleased with their present condition. A. L. Aste has a lot of seven handsome yearlings that on breeding and looks are as promising as any sat at the track. Their trials have been satisfactory and they are : Chestnut colt, by Bassetlaw Recolloction. Chestnut colt, by St. Carlo Piquant. CheBtnut colt, by Watercress Typhoon. Black colt, by Fresno Sister Warwick. .Bay colt, by Fitz James Springlike. Bay filly, by St. Andrew Glad Eyes. Chestnnt filly, by Goldfinch Margerique. Tha last named is a half sister to Nasturtium, and in conformation and general make-up she is not unlike her great relative. Mr. Aste is wall satisfied with his youngsters, and as he has had his share of success with thoroughbreds he nas every reason to hope for the best. At J. H. McAvojs establishment a group cf six yearlings were seen. On inspection they proved to ba: Bay colt, by Troubadour Armita. Brown colt, by Kingstock Emeline. Bay colt, by Aura Virgie Castleman. Bay filly, by G. W. Johnson Hirney Hymal. Bay filly, by Lord Esterling Crescant II. Chestnut filly, by Dr. MacBride Titania. They are a, smart looking lot as a whole and several of them are particularly promising. The colt by Aura Virgie Castleman took my fancy as soon as he was led out. He has fine size and a look of quality that is most striking. He has been satisfactorily tried, and I should be disappointed if he does not race. The bay colt by Troubadour Armita is of the blocky sort and has a wear and tear look that should make him show to advantage. The brown colt by Kingstock Emeline is a sturdily built youngster and shonld do the establishment credit. The fillies are a smart trio, and, wintering well, should go to the races with success. Mr. McAvoy is fond of training yearlings. He has patience and perseverance, and his youngsters should show up in the spring in proper shape. Thomaa Green has a pair of handsome yearling fillies that were seen jogging around the track. They stepped their paces neatly, and looked the part of good material. Their descriptions are as follows: CONTINUED ON SECOND PAGE. YEARLINGS AT SHEEPSHEAD BAY. Continued from First Page. Chastnat filly, by Chorister Ocean Queen. Bay filly, by King Arthur Ventnor. The fhst-nsmed miBB turned a quarter in 24 seconds in her trial, and the King Arthur Ventnor youngiter did the trick in close to the same time. Trainer Green will leave in a day or two to have a look at Mb good racer, Dr. Barlow, which is wintering near Glens Falls, N. Y. The Doctor went amiBS at Saratoga just as he was ready for a race, and was sent to Glens Falls to be fired and blistered. He is ready to return to his home quarters, but the trainer thinks some walking around in the snow will do much toward hardening and improving his legs. Trainers A. J. Joyner, Frank McCabe, Peter Wimmer and others had sets of yearlings on the track during the morning, and in the mild atmosphere the young things frisked about gallantly. There are many improvements going on at the course, and it will put on a smarter appearance during the coming season than ever before. The club has purchased more ground on the outside of the backstretch, where new stables will be erected. A fine stable is being built for the S. S. Brown racers, and Trainer Beter Wimmer will occupy it bb soon as it is finished. There will be twenty-two BtallB for the horses, besides a kitchen and living quarters for the men and boys.
