Dr. Scharff, off badly, ran a very fast middle quarter and was easily second bast. Commissioner Fortter labored in the going throughout. He is a good colt evidently and will probably show much hotter form on a good track. Royalty ran in improved form and was undoubtedly out of place on the deep track. Bernota showed expected improvement in the slow goiug and displayed brilliant and lasting epeed. Horton, however, Bhould have won. After costly interference on the first tum and being carried hopelessly wide on the stretch turn, he finished fastest of all Obia, anchored in the deepest going next to the rail, waB UBed up in racing with Bernota and ceased to be a contender after going flvo furlongs.
