EASTERN TURF NEWS Of matters of current interest to eastern turfmen tho Now York Sun of Monday says There was a general moving of horses from Gravesend and Shoopshoad Bay tracks yesterday for Washington Father Bill Daly was active early in the day He proceeded to send away Him ¬ self Cartoon Botha Hebron Father Den Fabius Chiron Hurry Squid and Swamplands leaving at home the twoyearolds Bobbinet Annie Daly and Monidor Himself worked threequarters of a milo on Saturday in 1 16 and was eased up Dalys horses madeup the biggest string to leave Graves end1 end1At At Gravesend on Saturday there was a larger turnout of horses than at any previous time this year William Hueston had his twoyearolds Cocagno Velos Counterpoise and Lucky Day all out and three of them worked a quarter in 25 sec ¬ onds He also showed Reformer who looks as if he would be a good threeyearold this season seasonM M F Dwyors horses were conspicuous for their good condition Ethics working threequarters of a mile in 1 23 His twoyearolds William Stead and Hergenia were sont a quarter in 26 seconds P J Dwyers horses Lady Handspring Merry Acrobat and Mennenfiold were allowed to gallop smartly while Hackensack Memphis and Attorney were worked through a quarter in 28 seconds Newton Bonningtons twoyearold Bonsonhurst created much favorable comment by doing an easy half mile in 5S seconds Kilogram Jack Demund Ref ¬ eree and in fact all the horses in Fred Berlews care are in excellent shape just now nowAt At Shoepshead Bay on Saturday trainer Jack Joyner occupied the track for a while with Perry Belmonts Flywheel and Numeral and several other horses belonging to other turfmen Fly ¬ wheel has grown big and hardy during the winter and great things are expected of him during the coming campaign John Tabors fast twoyearold George W Dash covered three furlonga in 37i sec onds the best record for the day Peter Wimmer was about the busiest trainer at the track In addition to Blackmore Garry Herrmann Hands Across Hyphen and Haversack Wimmer showed the twoyearold colt Blue Ribbon by Sir Dixon Bonnie Blue II who is a full brother to Blues and Blue Girl The youngster while not much as to size and power showed plenty of speed and an ex ¬ cellent style He did a quarter in 26 seconds fol ¬ lowed by the other youngsters Oil in the Can East Indian River Pirate and Indian Fairy Other trainers who were occupied were W O Scully William Beckett Thomas Green F A Jones J H McAvoy Frank McCabo and W J Smith Both tracks were in good shape shapePresident President William A Engeman of the Brighton Beach Radius Association has decided to erect a commodious and comfortable field stand which will compare favorably with any field stand on the Metropolitan circuit The new stand will be from designs by Frank H Quinby of New York It is estimated tlmt the structure will cost about 50 000 Tho general dimensions will be 80 by 200 feet and it will accommodate 3500 persons comfortably Tho roof will bo of a design similar to that on the grandstand It will have a span of nearly 100 feet and it will extend a distance of 45 feet over the front seats thus giving ample protection from sun and rain The spectators may have a perfect view of every race run regardless of their position in the stand
