Trentham was much the best at the weights and fiuished with plenty in reserve. Cogswell showed sudden improvement. He moved np fast on the turn for home and finished strongly. Peat was tiring fast at the end and would have lost second place in a few more strides. Egyptian Prince was vilely ridden and cut off and bumped by Cogswell on the turn from the half. He closed stoutly. Ben Chance as usual was slow to begin but made up ground rapidly in the last quarter. Cougar was well beaten after running seven furlongs. Captain Arnold was much the best. Dominick avoided the early pace and when he called on him at the head of the stretch he simply ran over the other horses. Sidney C. Love showed a keen turn of Bpeed and held it well for almost five furlongs, but in the last sixteenth he began to tire fast. Shooting Star was right there until the last sixteenth where he began to tira and would have lost third.place in a stride or two. Watkins Overton closed up fast in the final eighth. Linguist was well spent turning for home. Our Bessie fell away beaten when the last sixteenth struggle came up.
