The Messenger wa3 taken through the filled ground next to the rail at the three-eighths post, Lyne desiring to save ground and being ignorant of the fact that the new clay would anchor his .mount. Harry Griffith showed surprising speed did not run wide on the turns and was well ridden. Pourquoi Pas was very badly ridden. Bell pulled her wide on the turn when she wanted to swing close to the rail, then let her swerve in and generally misused her. Makeda was weakly ridden. She will win when they put a good jockey up. Flash of Night showed speed but tired. Marchioness ran a dull race. Totila showed speed but quit after running a good half. Scratched 33615 Wolfram, 108. Harry Griffith, show, 21 to 1. Joe Doughty ran an exceptionally good race and was well ridden at the end. Alice Turner was very badly ridden, but ran a game Tace under pressure. Glenwood was badly ridden, allowed to fall out of it in the early pace and was permitted to swerve all over the stretch. He was probably best. Wax Taper closed up ground in the run home. Prosper La Gai was off badly, used excessively in going around the field and fought a tremendous battle with Joe Doughty for the lead and then fell back beaten. Kittie Clyde, show, 4 to 5. Mabel Winn showed a great flight of speed, quickly opened up a gap of four lengths, was rated to the stretch, then came away at her riders pleasure. Stranger was well away and ran a good race to the stretch turn whore he ran out. He came again when straightened out and finished gamely. Sambo closed up smartly and came with a rush at the end. Navarino ran his race. Croix dOr ran a brilliant race from where he got off, but the effort caused him to tire. Helen Print wants a longer distance.
