Vestry finished strongly after making up ground in the last quarter. Versifier hung slightly in the closing strides. Penance was running fast at the end. The Fisher Girl showed early speed. Inspector Shea found the slow going to his liking and had littlo trouble in moving away from the field in the last eighth. Golden Glitter tired when challenged bv the winner. Walsh was of little help to him when the pinch came. Zyra was tiring fast in the last sixteenth. Emma A. M. showed early speed. Jane Holly ran well for only a half mile. Won driving; second handily. Huachuca finished strongly under a vigorous ride and stood off Corrigans determined bid at the end with gameness. The latter came with a rush near the finish. Herodiade, off running, showed much speed but cracked badly when a furlong out. McChesney finished with determination. The going was probably too slow for him to run to his best form. He showod little early speed. Talpa was coming fast at the end. Lass of Langden showed early speed. Overweights Flora Pomona, 3 pounds. Huachuca, show, 6 to 5. Corrigan, show, 8 to 5. Albert Enright, off flying, showed a surprising turn of speed and the result was uevor in doubt. He swerved slightly in the last sixteenth but not enough to interfere with Dewey. The latter ran a good race but simply was not good enough to beat the winner. Silurian tired fast in the last. eighth, but is rounding to his best form and deserves watching from now on. Little Scout ceased to be a serious contender after the first half had been run. Omdurman ran a dull race. Scratched 34035 Piederich, 97; 310602John Bright, 114. Overweights Dewey, 1 pound. Goodman tird fast when the last eighth struggle came up. Pericles did not run to the mark. Rankin showed well for four and a half furlongs.
