The Caxton, always well up, outstayed Tizona in the last eighth struggle, little Bobbins putting up a determined ride in the closing strides. Tizona ran to his best form, had clear sailing all the way and had no mishaps. Red Tip showed a sharp reversal over his effort of the day previous and was a keen contender all the way. Maten Bell was the vic:im of a bad ride, Helgesen making too sudden use of her while going down the backstretch to make up ground from a poor beginning. Leviathan, badly cut off at the first turn, had no chance thereafter. Reseda ran far below the good form shown in her last two races. Overweights Leviathan, 5 pounds. The Caxton. show, 4 to 5. Winner B. f, by St. Florian Bonnie Bird trained by J. Rodegap. Went to post at 3:00. At post 30 seconds. Start poor. Won driving; second easily. Linguist was caught in the barrier, interfered with Watkins Overton aud both had little chance when well into their strides. Adios luckily mot with no interference, showed a fine turn of Bpeed, but had to be driven one to the limit to stall off The Pickets determined bid at the end. The latter closed up ground fast in the last eighth and would probably have won in another stride. Lady Jocelyn tired rapidly when the pinch came, Linguist had no chance after getting into his stride, and the same may be said of Watkins Overton. The latter showed sharp speed for six and a half furlongs, but was tiring fast in the closing strides.
