Jack Demund took kindly to the heavy going, showed much speed and the result was never in doubt. Corinne Unland was much the best of the others. Serpent began slowly, but made up ground steadily in the last half and finished strongly. Automaton tired fast in the last quarter. He was probably a little short and the race should do him good. Slow to get into her stride she made up ground fast after the first half had been run and finished resolutely. Albert Enright ran to his boat form. He faltered somewhat in the last eighth run. Pirates Queen ceased to be a serious contender after five furlongs had been run. Western Duke apparently does not take kindly to the mud.
