NOTES OF THE TTJKF. It is said that the new track of John E. Madden i is one of the fastest in the country. It is at Hamburg 1 Place, five furlongs, and a half mile of the track is down hill, like Morris Park. His assistant trainer, Hiram Steele, worked a three-year-old a mile and a quarter the other day in 2:10. No one knows what colt this was, but it is one Steele is preparing to race in Maddens colors at New i Orleans. It is reported that John W. Schorr will Bhip his horses from New York to Memphis next Wednesday. The horses to be shipped are John A. Scott, Eva Russell, Spencer Beiff, Janeway, Rightful, i Ordnung, Duke of Connaught, Bensonhurst, and a filly by Florist. Charles Littlefield, accompanied by his son, Fred Littlefleld, has been at Lexington for the purpose of selecting from the Elmendorf Stud material for next years string. The Haggin string, which Littlefleld is training, is to be strengthened. William Clare, son of the late James Clare, has been appointed to take his fathers place as superintendent of the Brighton Beach racetrack. By an error in proofreading, race No. 35292, Corri-gan waB represented to have finished only a nose in front of Marque, whereas the interval separating the pair was fifteen lengths.
