Arvensis, always well up, stood off Capables bold bid in the last sixteenth gamely and finished strongly. The latter began slowly, but made up ground fast in the last half and finished with a rush. Banter, slightly pocketed in the last eighth, also came with a rush at the end. LAmada made up ground in the last quarter and bears watching from now on. North Pole faltered when the pinch came. Whiten had enough w.hen entering the last quarter. Yestia showed much early speed. Overweights The Counselor, 3 pounds. Arvensis, show, evens. Capable, show, 6 to 5. MacGyle was much the best, displayed keen speed throughout and won as his rider pleased. Annie Thompson showed speed and finished strongly. Silurian closed up ground fast in the last quarter,, as did also Silver Fizz. Eva Rice had no chance after meeting with early entanglement. Quesn of Dixiaha tired fast in the last eighth struggle. Waswift ran an excellent race, He stood a long stretch drive with gameness and finished strongly. LEtrenne met with early interference and by the time she got into her stride had no chance whatever. Buchanan did not make a move with him until entering the last quarter wheru he took him next to the inside rail. The colt finishod with a great burst of speed and easily passed Pink Coat. The latter tired palpably when challenged by the winner. He ran an excellent race, butis nowhere near the good horse he was last year. Homestead outstayed Scarlet Lily for third placo in a desperate last sixteenth struggle The latter showed much Bpaed, bat tired in the last eighth. Felix Bard was right there up to the last eighth. King Barleycorn showed much speed for about seven and one-half furlongs. Cherries was right there until a furlong out, where she fell away badly boaten. Malay was never in the hunt at any part of it.
