Gilfain displayed much speed, easily passing into the lead after the first quarter had been run and was never afterward in trouble. Mallory showed scant speed for the first half mile, but made up ground fast in the last quarter and finished with a rush. Glenrice fini hed strongly and bears watching from now on. Lendin got a running start, but showed scant speed and appears to be of no present account. Whiten tired rapidly in the last quarter. The latter came with a rush in the last eighth but could not quite reach. Inspector Shea began slowly but made up ground fast in tho last quarter and was running past horses fast at the end. I. Samelson showed speed but retired when the last eighth struggle came up. Georgie ran a dull race. She appears" to be of little present account. Dualist, show, out. The latter made up gronnd fast in the last quarter and finished with a rush. He would have won in another stride. Sarilla showed sudden improvement and finished resolutely. Do Madge, all entangled at tha start, appeared to have little chance in the first auarter, but made up ground fatet thereafter and finished strongly. Lady Meddlesome was never a seiious contender. The Conqueror II. tired palpubly when challenged by the winner. He bumped into Homestead at the last eighth post and the latter bumped him in return. Homestead finished strongly ana outgamed The Conqueror II. for second place. Dr. Stephens tired fist in the last eighth. Hoodwink ran a good race for seven furlongs.
