Sarah Maxim was much the be3t and simply played with the field. Goody Twoshoes ran a good race and was easily the best of the others. Centie showed speed, but tired perceptibly in the last sixteenth. Hoodwink moved away easily from the field just before turning for home and won much as her rider pleased. Moabina ran well, but tired slightly.in the closing strides. Inspactor Shea came with his usual rush at the end and would have been second in a few more strides. St. Tammany ran well for five and a half furlongs. Mattie Spencer moved up fast just after turning for home and outstayed Mayor Johnson in the last sixteenth struggle. The latter showed much speed, but tired just a trifle in the closing strides. He and The Conqueror II. ran in close company to the head of the stretch, where the former came away easily. The Conqueror II. tired palpably in the final eighth, but at that was mnch the best of the others. Jordan showed well for the first half and then fell away, but when turning for home he rallied and after closing up much ground finished Btrongly, Scarlet Lily fell away beaten after running well up for a little over a half mile. Brookston, off flat-footed, made up ground fast in the first quarter, and after running Zepho into submission in the next quarter appeared to be an easy winner when turning for home, but had to be driven to the limit to stall off Lord Melbournes determined bid in the last sixteenth. The Alter began slowly, but moved up fast in the final quarter and finished strongly. He swerved over against Brookston in the last sixteenth. Zepho, off flying, showed speed, but tired fast when a furlong from home. Angelo ran well to the head of the stretch. Our Bessie appeared to labor in the sloppy going and was always badly outrun. Pirates Queen was much the best, displayed keen speed throughout and won well in hand. Erne finished strongly and was much the best of the others. Egyptian Prince showed much improvement and ran a good race for seven and a half furlongs. He tired palpably, however, when the last eighth struggle came up. Colonel Ballantyne madeup ground fast in the last quarter and finished stoutly. Lena ran well, lying close up to the winner until just after turning for home, where she tired fast. False Lead ran far below the form shown in his last race.
