He was off running and Cochran hustled him along all the way at a very fait clip. White Ghosts performance was a good one. Off none too well, he made up a lot of ground and finished gamely under a weak ride. Forward ran a poor race. Minder could not get him to going freely and he was under a drive for the ontire distance. Watkins Overton had no chance with his start. Many lengths out of it in the first part of the race, he closed a tremendous gap, finishing strongly and would have won with an even start. Pigeon Post got off running, but was used up in racing with Tugai Bey. His weight told at the end, but he is worth remembering, as his race was a good one. Gimcrack received first-class handling and Redfern put up a 6trong finish, and that won for him. He did not seem to have a chance when a furlong from home, but got through next to the rail and finished with a rnsh. Dramatist finished strongly and was in front a stride beyond the wiro. He was weakly handled in the stretch and should have won, as he was best. Redfern could have won with either horse. Saccharometer displayed a good turn of speed, but was not quite up to the journey, Duke of Kendal is consistent and speedy and would have been a keen contender with a stronger rider. Hackensack was outrun all the way. Ink received a poor start. The Guide broke on tho outside and had no chanco. Scratched 36226 Diuksie, 109; 36193 Bassanio, 109; .6191 Lady Sarah, 109. Dublin stumbled right after th3 start, went up fast in the first quarter, forced the paco for tho rost of the journey and had plenty in hand at the end. G. Whittier, weakly handled from start to finish, was best of the others at the weights. Ben Howard was in woll and hard ridden, but could not get up in the final fur-lnrig. He was the medium of a tremendous plunge. The route and weight was too much for Examiner, but his race was a good one under the conditions. Captain Arnold came wide when turning into the backstretch and loBt several lengths, but finished strongly and would have been third in a few more strides. Right and True ran a good race, but was tiring fast at the end from making the paco and OConnor had to ride him hard to get home first. Dark Planet finished gamely under the whip and would have won in a few more strides and is fit and worth remembering. Bright Girl displayed speed, bnt could not quite last the route, although she held on well at the end. Trapezist ran well and will win when properly placed. Citicinnatus got off poorly, but would have been closer up with a competent rider. Sparkle Esher began slowly and seemintrly could not get to going well. It was a poor race for Daddy Bender. OConnor took her back on the first turn to avoid making the pace and closed ud again in the last quarter. She was tiring at the end and OConnor took no chance, riding her out. Great American came strongly in the stretch under a weak ride. Rappenecker was third through Lyne outriding Fisher. Lady Potentate, off poorly, ran a slashing race and will win with a good rider. Jourtenay waB in the middle of the field all the way, was weakly ridden and did not show his usual speed. Knight of the Garter weakened badly in the final drive. The route was too far for Musidora. H. L. Coleman showed scant speed today and did not run his race. Scratched 361772Bar Le Due, 107. Overweights Ry, 1 pound. Ray, show, 4 to 5. Great American, show, 2 to 1. Rappenecker, show, 7 to 5. At post 1 minute. Start good for all but St. Finnan. Won oasily ; second the same. The Huguenot improves with each race and is speedy, but did not have any too much left at the end. His race was not a good one for him, as a poor horse was close to him. Cogswell closed up strongly in the stretch under a drive and forced The Huguenot to do his best. Orontas was outrun early, as usual, bnt failed to make his usual determined bid at the end. His last race probably dulled him. Major Mansir was always outrun and was only up close because Alsike and Provost quit badly. Both are worth remembering in poor company. St. Finnan wheeled as the barrier went up.
